Jesse Muscatello
Psychologist, Clinical Psychology Registrar | BPsychSci, BPsychStud(Hons), MProfPsych, MAppPsych(Clin)
Jesse is a registered psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a Clinical Psychology Registrar. He brings several years of experience working in both public mental health settings and private practice, where he has developed a comprehensive understanding of the diverse challenges people face.
In addition to his therapeutic work, Jesse teaches psychology and counselling at The University of Melbourne and Victoria University, across Bachelor’s and Master’s levels. His dual role as a clinician and educator enhances his practice, integrating academic knowledge with hands-on expertise.
Jesse understands the complexity of wanting to create change but feeling uncertain about where to begin. He fosters a strong therapeutic relationship by creating a safe, person-centred environment that is empathetic, supportive, and free of judgment. His approach focuses on understanding the individual as a whole—beyond their symptoms—to help them develop self-awareness, compassion, and healthier ways of managing their emotions and relationships.
Working within an Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) framework, Jesse employs an evidence-based, active, and focused approach to assist individuals in resolving deeply rooted emotional conflicts. This method allows people to explore unconscious patterns and automatic responses that contribute to their struggles, empowering them to find healthier, more adaptive ways to cope with emotional challenges.
Jesse works with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, stress, anger, trauma, life transitions, grief, emotional dysregulation, ADHD, perfectionism, self-esteem concerns, sexual difficulties, internet and pornography addiction, and more. He also has a particular interest in working with athletes and individuals in high-performance settings. Jesse goes beyond cognitive and behavioural processes to explore and address deeper conflicts that may be inhibiting performance and well-being.
Jesse is dedicated to helping individuals achieve improved psychological health, personal growth, and a greater sense of inner peace.
Jesse is eligible for Medicare rebates for those attending therapy under a valid GP referral and Mental Health Care Plan.
